Community Engagement
Cacao Oro has made remarkable strides with its Community Engagement Program, fostering an environment of open communication and mutual respect. Over recent times, the initiative has seen an impressive turnout, with 131 events drawing in 1,549 participants—a testament to the program’s resonance within the community. These gatherings have not only served as a platform for dialogue but have also emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability through the introduction of a complaint and suggestion box on the farm premises.
A Safe Space for Voices to be Heard
Cacao Oro prides itself on creating a secure environment for community members to voice concerns without fear of retaliation. By providing accessible contact information for key figures such as the farm manager and the director of sustainability, the initiative ensures that every voice is heard, and every suggestion is considered. This approach underscores a zero-tolerance policy against retaliation, safeguarding the well-being of all community members and stakeholders involved.
Engaging Leaders, Empowering Communities
Our bi-monthly meetings with community leaders stand as a cornerstone of Cacao Oro’s engagement strategy. These inclusive sessions aim to not only share updates on the company’s activities but also to forge a collaborative path forward in addressing community needs and concerns. By shedding light on the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), Cacao Oro ensures that community members are well-informed and involved in the ongoing development and sustainability efforts.
Fostering Growth and Opportunities
Cacao Oro’s workforce is a vibrant community of 511 employees, including both permanent and temporary roles, with a significant focus on continuous learning and development. This emphasis on education and skill enhancement is a key aspect of the company’s growth strategy, empowering employees to pursue further education and contribute more effectively to their roles and the community at large.
Connecting Communities Road Program
In response to community leaders’ requests, Cacao Oro has taken a significant step forward with the construction of a 1,000-meter road in Rosario 1 and Rosario Sector 2. This crucial infrastructure project not only facilitates emergency access and economic opportunities by easing the transportation of harvested crops but also symbolizes a deeper connection between Cacao Oro and the communities it serves. The road stands as a tangible representation of the company’s dedication to improving the quality of life for its neighbors and fostering an environment of collaboration and support.
Cacao Oro’s approach to community engagement reflects a deep-seated belief in the power of unity and the importance of sustainable development. Through open dialogue, educational opportunities, and infrastructural development, Cacao Oro is not just building roads but is also laying down the pathways to a brighter, more connected future.
