Recognition from PROCACAO
Cacao Oro de Nicaragua: A Model of Excellence Recognized by PROCACAO
Cacao Oro de Nicaragua, a leading company in cocoa production, has been honored with a prestigious recognition by PROCACAO, within the framework of the project “Improvement of productive and organizational capacities of cocoa producers in the Mining Triangle,” also known as PROCACAO Phase II. This critical initiative, aimed at strengthening the cocoa industry in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region (RACCN) of Nicaragua, seeks to boost productivity and competitiveness while simultaneously promoting environmental conservation.
The project’s execution, led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Community, Cooperative, and Associative Economy (MEFCCA) and the Regional Government of the North Caribbean Coast, has enjoyed the essential financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE). In this context, on Friday, November 10, 2023, Leonel Rojas, the operational manager of La Rosita Farm and representative of Cacao Oro de Nicaragua, received this award, certifying the company’s commitment to an exceptional model of cooperation and sustainability.
Since joining the project in 2018, Cacao Oro de Nicaragua has played a crucial role in enriching knowledge and developing skills within the cocoa value chain. Through a theoretical-practical approach, the company has provided technical training to producers selected by PROCACAO, significantly contributing to the improvement of cocoa plantations. The outstanding results of these training programs reflect the effectiveness and positive impact of Cacao Oro’s interventions in the sector.
The exchange of experiences and best practices with producers, decision-makers, and other key stakeholders has been a highlighted aspect of Cacao Oro’s collaboration with PROCACAO. This enriching dialogue has benefited not only the company but also governmental entities at both regional and national levels, donors, project implementers, and cooperatives in the cocoa sector.
This recognition from PROCACAO not only celebrates Cacao Oro de Nicaragua’s commitment to excellence in cocoa production but also reaffirms the importance of public-private collaboration and knowledge exchange for the sustainable development of the cocoa industry in Nicaragua and the region.
